School Sport Nottingham
School Sport Nottingham has been established between a partnership of Nottingham City Council’s Sport, Outdoor Learning, Life Skills, Adventure and Risk Management (SOLAR) Service, Ellis Guilford School and Sports College, The Farnborough Academy and NHS Nottingham City.
Ellis Guilford School hosts two posts – the Physical Activity, PE and Sports Strategy Manager and the School Sport and PE Officer – who both have remits to develop the School Sport, PE and Physical Activity programmes in all City schools. Funding for the posts has been accessed from Sport England for the delivery of the School Games programme and from NHS Nottingham City to develop the Physical Activity programme in City schools.
School Sport Nottingham supports schools in effectively using their PE and School Sport Premium funding.
School Sport Nottingham has a focus on increasing high quality PE, out of hours school sport, competitions, leadership development and informal play. Additionally, the work aims to improve the attitude and behaviour of pupils and increase attainment and achievement of pupils in PE and across the whole school. We also work closely with a range of partners in the local community to provide opportunities and pathways for young people to access sports and activities outside of school and benefit by sitting within the SOLAR Service of Nottingham City Council.
