CLEAPSS (school science)

CLEAPSS for your school

CLEAPSS is an advisory service providing support in science and technology for a consortium of local authorities and their schools including establishments for pupils with special needs.

Objectives of the Service:

CLEAPSS provides support and advice to teachers, technicians, Head Teachers and governors on how best to use high quality practical work to support pupils learning in science, design & technology and, most recently, art & design. CLEAPSS membership enables employers to discharge their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and subsequent Regulations. In the absence of CLEAPSS membership the employer be it the Governors must consider how to fulfil aspects of the Health and Safety at Work Act and its subsequent regulations.

CLEAPSS advice and guidance also supports schools in securing positive judgments around the safeguarding aspect of school inspections, which as you know is a limiting factor in the current OFSTED framework.
